Todd Harrity, fifth seed in the Challenger 10 Life Time Phoenix Open and world No. 82, made it to the quarterfinals Thursday evening, September 25, in Tempe, AZ.

Harrity defeated Jamaica’s Christopher Binnie, world No. 235, in four sets, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6, 11-4. This marks Harrity’s second win over Binnie. In their first career match up, Harrity will face number one seed and world No. 43, Australia’s Ryan Cuskelly, in the quarterfinals. Harrity and Cuskelly are set to play today, September 26, at 5pm local time.

The other Americans in the main draw did not fair as well as Harrity. Chris Hanson, world No. 244 and Bedford, New York-native, fell to Cuskelly in three games 7-11, 6-11, 8-11. Faraz Khan, up-starter from the qualifiers, was forced to retire against Frenchman Lucas Serme, world No. 66 and fourth seed in the Open. Khan’s first two games with Serme, 11-9 and 12-10, were tight, but unfortunately Khan could not continue the match due to injury and retired in the third.
