Jordanian qualifier Ahmad Albazadi pulled off the lone upset in the first round of the Hazlow Electronics Rochester Pro Am on the University of Rochester’s Lyman squash courts in upstate New York. 

The twenty-four-year-old world No. 215 defeated fifth-seeded Pakistani Syed Hamzah Bakhari, ranked over one hundred places higher, 11-9, 11-4, 8-11, 9-11, 11-7.

The other seven seeds safely advanced to quarterfinals including lone American Todd Harrity. Sixth-seeded Harrity defeated Seattle-based teenager Shahjahan Khan 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, and now faces U.S.-based Englishman Lewis Walters for their first career meeting.
