Egyptian Omar Abdel Meguid has been making quite a first impression at the fifteenth Motor City Open, presented by The Suburban Collection.

After his quick, thirty-minute victory in Round One of Qualifying Thursday night, Abdel Meguid downed England’s Chris Simpson, the top-ranked qualifier and World No. 25, in straight games Friday in the qualifying finals: 12-10, 11-2, 11-7. Abdel Meguid was one of four players that won spots in Saturday’s Main Draw. France’s Gregoire Marche, Egypt’s Marwan Elshorbagy, and veteran Olli Tuominen of Finland also advanced. Harrity On Track in Seattle

American world No. 129 Todd Harrity is on track in the Stratos Seattle Open with a first round win over Dutch qualifier Bart Ravelli. Despite narrowly losing the first game 9-11, fourth-seeded Harrity emphatically turned around the match to win the next three games 11-2, 11-5, 11-1. Qualifying for the 2014 Atlanta Open is underway as four qualifying and two lucky loser main draw spots are up for grabs at Life Time Fitness Atlanta. The $10,000 Professional Squash Association (PSA) event marks the first stop on the 2014 Life Time Fitness Grand Prix Series, following up a successful, inaugural 2013 Life Time Fitness Grand Prix Series that involved six PSA 10 tournaments hosted at Life Time Fitness facilities across the United States.
